31 Day Challenge (modified): Day 4-Color GREEN Nails

Had to switch from the yellow quickly-I didn't like it and I chipped one of my middle finger nails badly at work so I needed a re file (although also glad to get off the yellow :)

Off to GREEN! I have a bunch of awesome green colors and wanted to utilize all of them so I needed a nail art design that used many colors. I went with the Splatter design!

Here was what I came up with! Actually really excited with the finished product but definitely envisioned it differently.

Here is a close up shot of my thumb.

I started off with Orly's Androgynie which is a black gelly base with a fine gold glitter in it along with some bigger circular glitter (picture below shown with two coats). I really love this polish!

I then splattered on Orly's Jealous Much (a lighter pastel green), China Glaze Paper Chasing (darker grass green with some metallic shine), China Glaze Rare and Radiant (goldish metallic green) and finally China Glaze In The Lime Light Neon (neon green). From there I cleaned up the mess (splatter is very messy) and let the paint on my nails dry as some places were thicker than others. I then lightly covered with my new favorite glitter Orly's Monster Mash (one of their Halloween edition polishes. This is seen really well on the thumb nail-it is a bright neon green circular glitter with gold bars in a light neon gelly base.

Overall one of my favorite manicures thus far in the 30 day challenge. The pictures definitely do not do it justice-it is a lot brighter in person. I think this one might stay on awhile! :)

31 Day Challenge (modified): Day 3-Color YELLOW Nails

I absolutely loved my orange nails I just couldn't take them off! For day 3 I needed to do yellow nails-not a color I think I ever wear. I have many golds but not yellow and did not have a good plan or idea of what I wanted to do.

This is what I ended up with. I tried a daisy type design which didn't show as much as I liked and then tried a stamp on the ring finger. Overall not my favorite design but it worked for yellow. I even tried doing it matte cover and still was not happy-oh well live and learn.

Here is a close up of the stamp and the pinky nail daisy.

For this I used my usual China Glaze base and Seche Vite top coat. The base color is Orly Lemonade and the white for the Daisy and Stamping was Sinful Colors Snow Me White. I used Shany plate 20 for the stamping.

31 Day Challenge (modified): Day 2-Color ORANGE Nails

Day 2 is ORANGE nails. So I was planning on only changing nails twice a week or so but I got so excited and my red nails had already fallen apart (the little balls fell off in the am-note for next time to use nail glue instead of top coat?). I guess that is to be expected when I nanny and wash my hands 50,000 times a day and then work at a pool...hmm....  :)

Anyway, onto the orange nails. Originally I had this plan to do some kind of pumpkin theme for Halloween and then I went back and forth thinking about using a stamp that I have with Halloween themes on it. I ended up starting with an orange gradient and liked it so much by itself that I stopped there.

I think the middle picture shows the best angle of the color change. Love them! Last time I tried a gradient it did not turn out as well. I think the likeness of the colors helps.

For this manicure I started off with a base coat of China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base and then a base layer of China Glaze Papaya Punch - a light orange, not quite neon. I then layered with Seche Vite to dry quickly (1st time using and I like it already!). I then sponged on a gradient of Essie Geranium (the darker reddish orange near the base of my nail), Zoya Jancyn (very similar to Papaya Punch but more a tad darker) and China Glaze Papaya Punch. I painted directly onto the sponge and then put that directly onto my nail. Small amounts of polish work best and I sponged two layers on each nail. I topped it off with a little Seche Vite to help smooth out the sponge texture and dry quicker.

I truly love this look and am impressed and surprised with how it turned out. Next one will be yellow-gotta find another good idea! Any suggestions??

31 Day Challenge (modified): Day 1-Color RED Nails

First day of official blog time :)

I am starting out with the 31 Day Challenge that many nail bloggers do and modifying it to my busy schedule. The schedule is supposed to happen each day for 31 days. I am going to be doing nails every 3 days or so instead of every day-my life is too hectic to have awesome manicures EVERY day :). The schedule is posted below.

So here are my Day 1 nails for RED!

First just the regular red nails-nothing better right?!? Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby and then topped with my favorite top coat, China Glaze Fast Forward. I hardly do red but it is so pretty and bold I should do it more.

Here was my finished product (I apologize for my poor picture snaps). After applying the base coat, I stamped with Nicole by OPI Black using the Shany plate 23. The decals on my middle finger are from a decoration kit from Sally Beauty. The glitter on my thumb is from Nicole by OPI's Make You Smile. Both the glitter and decals were put on using my dotting tool and top coat. I topped everything off with my top coat and VOILA!

I hope you enjoyed my Day 1 RED Challenge and my first official blog-wahoo!!
